Degree-Based Programs
COLLABORATIVE ASSOCIATE OF ARTS IN PASTORAL MINISTRY
The Associate of Arts in Pastoral Ministry is a two-year degree program that gives students a solid introduction to Scripture, Theology, and Pastoral Ministry. Students are challenged to put
their faith into practice through ministry in the church and community. Students will also earn general education requirements to pursue a BA in Pastoral Ministry.
Like the BAPM, the AAPM is also offered through a collaborative academic arrangement between the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) and the Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) in San Antonio, Texas. The degree prepares students for parish ministry, and for continued undergraduate study in ministry or theology. The program emphasizes intercultural competencies, and preparation to work with the diverse populations of the American Southwest. The degree can serve as a bridge for students between MACC’s various undergraduate-level ministry formation certificates and a university or college degree.
A minimum of 60 hours required for graduation to include 18 major credit hours, 18 General Studies Core Curriculum credit hours, 24 elective hours 9 of which should be in PMIN, and 22 clock hours of community service. For UIW degrees, completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours must be taken at UIW. Completion of 24 of the final 30 hours for the degree must be taken at UIW or MACC, as applicable. Active-duty military are only required to take 15 of the final 30 hours at UIW.
