The Saint Joseph Fund was established by the President to help any employee or student at MACC who has been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.

  1. The Fund will be in existence until any of the following occurs: July 31, 2021, the fund is depleted, the pandemic is officially ended by the Centers for Disease Control. If any funds are left after any of these events happens, the funds will go into the general operating fund of MACC or a scholarship fund to be determined by the Executive Leadership Team of MACC.
  2. Since the Fund is meant to help individuals who have been impacted by COVID-19, the individual him or herself has to have been impacted or a relative or spouse living in the same household.
  3. The Fund will not directly cover tuition at MACC or any other educational institution as the resources from the Fund are intended to help the individual with loss of salary (if applicable and explained below) or medical costs beyond reasonable medical costs of a doctor’s visit or low-cost medications such as ibuprofen, antihistamines or an oximeter.
  4. The Fund will award resources if the individual (or a family member living in the same household) has lost income because her or his employer does not cover the period of sickness with Covid-19. The maximum to be awarded because of this reason will be as stipulated below in number 6.
  5. The Fund will award resources if the individual (or relative or spouse living in the same household) has had to spend money to pay beyond a couple of doctor’s visits or the purchase of low-cost medications, as stated above. That is, the Fund will pay for emergency medical costs or hospitalizations, even if the individual (or the spouse or relative living in the same household) has medical insurance, as stipulated in the maximum stated in number 6.
  6. If the individual (or a relative living in the same household) does not have medical insurance, the maximum to be awarded is one thousand two hundred ($1,200) dollars per household. If the individual has medical insurance, the maximum to be awarded is eight hundred dollars ($800) per household. Proof of insurance or lack thereof can be established by a doctor’s or hospital bill stating the responsible parties. As long as one of the individuals living in the same household does not have insurance, the maximum award will apply.
  7. Any individual whose household (not individual) income is less than $150,000 is welcome to apply for an award from the Fund.
  8. The individual connected to MACC can apply for an award more than once (given that individuals in the same household may be infected at different times during the period of pandemic) but the total maximum per household is as stipulated in number 6.
