Elizondo Library Expands Opportunities Through New Professional Memberships
The Elizondo Library at Mexican American Catholic College is proud to announce its membership in two distinguished library organizations: the Council of Research & Academic Libraries (CORAL) and the Catholic Library Association (CLA). These affiliations mark an exciting milestone in the library’s continued commitment to academic excellence, professional collaboration, and expanded access to resources for the MACC community.
As MACC continues its mission of educating and empowering leaders for service in a culturally diverse Church and society, these partnerships strengthen the library’s ability to support students, faculty, researchers, alumni, and ministry leaders through greater collaboration, resource sharing, and professional engagement.
Welcome to CORAL
The Council of Research & Academic Libraries (CORAL) is a consortium of academic and research libraries serving the Greater San Antonio region. Through membership in CORAL, the Elizondo Library joins a collaborative network dedicated to strengthening library services, expanding access to resources, fostering professional development, and promoting cooperation among member institutions.
In welcoming MACC, CORAL recognized the college’s longstanding commitment to leadership formation, multicultural ministry, and service. CORAL also highlighted the unique contributions of the Elizondo Library and Archives, including its extensive bilingual collections, archival holdings, and dedication to preserving the history and voices of Hispanic ministry, theology, and South Texas communities. Through this partnership, the Elizondo Library will have new opportunities to engage with fellow academic libraries, share expertise, and strengthen services that benefit the entire MACC community.

Joining the Catholic Library Association
The Elizondo Library is also honored to become a member of the Catholic Library Association (CLA), an international organization founded in 1921 that supports libraries and information professionals through educational opportunities, publications, networking, scholarship programs, and professional development.
The Catholic Library Association coordinates the exchange of ideas, provides inspirational support and ethical guidance in the field of librarianship, and fosters a professional community among those who seek, serve, preserve, and share knowledge in all its forms.
Membership in CLA connects the Elizondo Library to a global network of librarians, educators, and institutions dedicated to advancing learning, scholarship, and Catholic intellectual traditions. These opportunities will help strengthen library services while supporting MACC’s mission of faith formation, education, and service.

Supporting MACC’s Mission
Named in honor of Rev. Virgilio Elizondo, MACC’s founding president and a pioneer in Hispanic ministry and theology, the Elizondo Library serves as both an academic resource center and an archival repository preserving the rich history of MACC and the communities it serves.
Located in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Student Center, the library houses more than 22,000 books, periodicals, audiovisual resources, archival materials, and special collections in both English and Spanish. The Archives preserve original manuscripts, publications, photographs, and historical records documenting the history of MACC, Hispanic ministry, and South Texas.
Beyond its collections, the Elizondo Library provides study spaces, technology resources, exhibit areas, and opportunities for learning and collaboration. The library continues to serve as a welcoming center for scholarship, research, cultural preservation, and community engagement.
These new memberships with CORAL and the Catholic Library Association reinforce the library’s commitment to excellence while expanding opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and access to knowledge for current and future generations.
