As a Roman Catholic center of pastoral studies and ministry formation, the Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) does not independently possess institutional accreditation. Ever mindful of universal standards for quality assurance in higher education, especially theology and professional ministry, MACC’s academic programming reflects formation standards articulated by the national conference of U.S. Catholic bishops and the Holy See. Further, MACC has been approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as an off-campus instructional site for the University of the Incarnate Word’s Pastoral Institute. This collaborative agreement permits students to obtain a fully accredited degree while completing all major coursework at MACC’s historic westside campus.
To advance its ecclesial mission, the Board of Governors has also granted the College permission to confer non-degree certificates of ministry formation. These academic programs in Pre-Theology, Diaconal Studies, and Lay Ministry enable graduates to serve the local and universal Church as competent, faithful ministers of Christ. These formation credentials also serve as a bridge to continued formal study in Theology and Ministry, thus fulfilling MACC’s purpose to empower and educate the people of God.
For questions about the accreditation status of the Mexican American Catholic College, or the role of quality improvement in MACC’s academic planning, please refer to the Academic Dean.
